Norges Naturvernforbund is working with environmental education in almost 20 countries. In 1996 we started the school project SPARE which is now the largest international school project on energy, climate and environment with more than 175 000 pupils in several thousand schools participating every year.

School start for 175 000 SPARE pupils
15. September is school start for more than 175 000 pupils in over 4500 schools that will learn about sustainable energy use through the SPARE project. Norges Naturvernforbund`s school project SPARE (School Project on Application of Resources and Energy) teaches pupils from 17 countries about the connection between energy consumption and environmental consequences.

National educational project SPARE in Belarus launched
In a unique partnership project Norges Naturvernforbund contribute to unite governmental and non-governmental organisations in a makeover for environmental education in Belarus. 26th of March SPARE was launched as a national project on energy and climate education in Belarus.

Norges Naturvernforbund assists war torn school in Georgia
Norges Naturvernforbund has together with local partner EcoVision rebuilt the minor wing of school number 7 in Gori, Georgia. All the windows were blown out when a bomb hit nearby the school during the war actions in August. 1500 pupils have since the war had to attend education in regional schools.

Saving energy is important for improvement of local and global environment. Nobody can do everything, but if everybody does something, we can achieve a lot together! In order to increase attention for the importance of energy saving, SPARE arranges an international energy saving day today!

Regional SPARE seminar in Georgia 25th -29th of September 2008
SPARE coordinators, teachers and pupils from the three Caucasian countries Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan have in the end of September gathered for regional SPARE seminar in the mountain village Gudauri, Georgia. The participants have been discussing the development of SPARE in the region, the consequences of climate change and methods to teach pupils what climate change is and how it will affect the Caucasus.

SPARE starting in Bulgaria
Together with Bulgarian partner, Naturvernforbundet has received seed money in order to develop a project on energy saving and renewable energy use in schools. The project is EEA funded and is expected to improve conditions in schools as well as to bring up new generations of environmentally aware citizens

New project on energy saving and education in Belarus
Norges Naturvernforbund establishes a new project on development of educational program on energy, climate and environment in Belarus. Main cooperation partner is the Ministry of Education of Belarus, but also Ministry of Environment, UNDP, NGOs and various educational institutions participates in the project. SPARE, the international program on education on energy, climate and environment of Naturvernforbundet, will serve as basis for the new program in Belarus.
