Norway has rich marine resources, many of which are shared with Russia. Norges Naturvernforbund works to improve the management of Norwegian and common marine resources. Particularly, we aim to highlight illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing, a substantial threat to fish stocks.

    The End of the Line for Open Net Cage Salmon Farming?

    A new short documentary produced by Canadian film-maker Damien Gillis lifts the lid on the problems caused by open net cage salmon farms worldwide. “Farmed Salmon Exposed: The Global Reach of the Norwegian Salmon Farming Industry” reveals the pervasive nature of the issues plaguing salmon aquaculture and features testimonials by witnesses discussing the environmental and socio-economic damage caused by poorly managed salmon farms. Norges Naturvernforbund supports this film and agrees with the global petition.

    International Conference on Fisheries in the Context of Hydrocarbon Resource Development on the Continental Shelf

    The polar marine research institute PINRO invites to international conference on fisheries and petroleum issues from 28th to 30th of October 2009 in Murmansk. Norges Naturvernforbund is member of the organizing committee, and brings Norwegian experience on interaction between fisheries and petroleum extraction into the conference.
