Den har havnet p\u00e5 Artsdatabankens r\u00f8dliste. Granmeis foretrekker barskog med innslag av l\u00f8vtr\u00e6r og fuktig mark. For \u00e5 finne egnede reirplasser trenger den d\u00f8d\/morken ved, gjerne av or, vier eller bj\u00f8rk. Ved \u00e5 henge opp fuglekasser kan vi hjelpe granmeisen. Om sommeren lever granmeis av insekter og fr\u00f8. Utp\u00e5 h\u00f8sten begynner den hamstring av fr\u00f8 som den gjemmer for \u00e5 ha mat gjennom vinteren. Fr\u00f8 av gran og furu utgj\u00f8r den viktigste n\u00e6ringskilden. Granmeis liker godt meiseboller og solsikkefr\u00f8.
