Det er en stor glede \u00e5 hjelpe fuglene. Gamle hanner kommer f\u00f8rst, deretter hunner og ungfugler. De fleste overvintrer p\u00e5 kontinentet eller i Storbritannia. Noen overvintrer langs kysten v\u00e5r. Svarttrost spiser insekter og mark. Om h\u00f8sten er b\u00e6r og frukt viktig. De legger egg i sk\u00e5lformede reir i busker eller lave tr\u00e6r. Svarttrosten finnes i de fleste skogtyper med tilstrekkelig undervegetasjon, og den unng\u00e5r ensformig granskog.
