Disse ble for det meste gravd fra 1930-tallet og framover til rundt 1990. I 2006 ble ny gr\u00f8fting av myr og sumpskog forbudt. Men det er fortsatt er lov \u00e5 renske gamle gr\u00f8fter, \u00e5 utvide eksisterende gr\u00f8ftesystemer med &laquo;suppleringsgr\u00f8fting&raquo; og \u00e5 grave nye gr\u00f8fter p\u00e5 fast mark. Derfor blir det stadig mer gr\u00f8fter, og gamle gr\u00f8fter gj\u00f8res betydelig st\u00f8rre med moderne maskiner. Men vi vet ikke omfanget av dette, siden det dessverre ikke lages ny nasjonal statistikk etter 2006.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Myr og sumpskog m\u00e5 ikke \u00f8delegges<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Myr og sumpskog er verdifulle av mange grunner, og m\u00e5 absolutt ikke \u00f8delegges. Fordi v\u00e5tmarker er s\u00e5 rike p\u00e5 plante- og dyreliv er de sv\u00e6rt popul\u00e6re landingsplasser for trekkfugler. Mange andre fugler enn trekkfuglene er avhengig av myr som matfat, spill- og hekkeplass. En rekke plante- og dyrearter i Norge har v\u00e5tmark som sitt eneste levested. Mange av disse er beskrevet som truet i norsk r\u00f8dliste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mange v\u00e5tmarker, og s\u00e6rlig myrer, har stor kapasitet til \u00e5 lagre vann, og dette gj\u00f8r at de kan dempe flom. Torvmose kan holde p\u00e5 vann tilsvarende ti ganger sin egen vekt. Den holder p\u00e5 vann under v\u00e5te perioder, og frigir vann til naturen rundt i t\u00f8rre perioder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I den offentlige utredningen <a href=\"https:\/\/www.regjeringen.no\/contentassets\/c7ffd2c437bf4dcb9880ceeb8b03b3d5\/no\/pdfs\/nou201320130010000dddpdfs.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Naturens goder \u2013 om verdier av \u00f8kosystemtjenester<\/a> anbefales det \u00e5 ta s\u00e6rlig hensyn til myrer og annen v\u00e5tmark som har en vannregulerende effekt og som bidrar til \u00e5 bremse hastigheten av flomvann. Utredningen konkluderer med at \u00f8delagte myrer er en viktig grunn til at kapasiteten til flomdemping er vesentlig redusert i Norge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Myra som karbonlager<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Myr er den naturtypen p\u00e5 landjorda som lagrer mest karbon. Karbon tilsvarende 250 000 tonn CO2 kan v\u00e6re lagret i torva p\u00e5 bare \u00e9n kvadratkilometer myr. \u00d8delegges myra, frigj\u00f8res denne klimagassen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ogs\u00e5 gr\u00f8fting av fast mark p\u00e5virker \u00f8kosystemene ved at grunnvannsniv\u00e5et senkes. Det er jo det som er hensikten, for det kan \u00f8ke t\u00f8mmerproduksjonen.&nbsp; Men n\u00e5r vannhusholdningen i omr\u00e5det endres f\u00e5r vi en annen skog, og vassdrag i omr\u00e5det kan p\u00e5virkes negativt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>De fleste gr\u00f8fter i myr og tidligere sumpskog m\u00e5 heller f\u00e5 gro igjen, slik de gj\u00f8r om naturen f\u00e5r g\u00e5 sin gang. Noen omr\u00e5der b\u00f8r restaureres ved at gr\u00f8ftene fylles igjen. Staten bevilger n\u00e5 betydelige bel\u00f8p til restaurering av myr. Vanligvis gjelder det myrer som er skadet av andre aktiviteter enn skogbruk, for eksempler torvuttak. Men det m\u00e5 ogs\u00e5 gj\u00f8res der skogbruk har v\u00e6rt form\u00e5let. Stortinget vedtok i 2019 at nydyrking av myr skal bli forbudt. Regjeringen foreslo i 2016 at b\u00e5de nygr\u00f8fting og gr\u00f8fterensk for skogbruksform\u00e5l forbys der det ikke allerede er produktiv skog. Et slikt forbud er enn\u00e5 ikke innf\u00f8rt, kanskje fordi skogbruksmyndighetene egentlig ikke vil ha det. Derfor m\u00e5 vi kreve at regjeringen n\u00e5 f\u00e5r fart i sakene. Dessuten m\u00e5 regelverket som allerede finnes h\u00e5ndheves slik det skal.
