Naturvernforbundet and Russian partners Gaia and Green World met with deputy governor of Murmansk oblast, Sergey Sobbotin, to present the concept of decommission plan that the NGOs have written together.
Last year Sobbotin participated in a study trip to Greifswald nuclear power plant, organized by Naturvernforbundet, Gaia and Green World. Greifswald nuclear power plant in Germany had the same type of reactor as Kola nuclear power plant has, but Greifswald’s reactors is now almost finished decommissioning.

Sobbotin also accepted an invitation for an international hearing on decommissioning of old nuclear reactors to be organized in October in Sosnovy Bor outside St.Petersburg, organized by Naturvernforbundet, Gaia and Green World.

During the visit to Murmansk, Naturvernforbundet also met with the Norwegian consul general in Murmansk, Rune Aasheim, to present the conception of decommissioning plan also for him.
