Seminar on ICS stoves in Khusravi district of Tajikistan
A practical seminar on energy saving cooking stoves was held in Nosiri village of Khusravi district. The event was organized by «Little Earth» environmental organization with the help from Norwegian Society for Nature Conservation. The main task of the practical training was to demonstrate new and more advanced clay stoves constructions for cooking.
17 local inhabitants including 10 stovemasters took part in the 3 days long seminar. After getting theoretical knowledge in the first part of the seminar stovemasters learned to prepare and batch clay the proper way and also to use special forms for bricks’ modeling. Afterwards they tried to construct stoves by themselves (under the direction of trainers) without using joining mortars. In the second part of the seminar the participants built two experimental stoves: a domestic stove and a stove for mass cooking.
During the building of the stoves trainers additionally advised stovemasters and corrected their errors. All stovemasters got special instruments kits and certificates of completion after the seminar.
Improved construction stoves (ICS) started to be introduced in Tajikistan in 2008 by «Little Earth» environmental organization with the help from Norwegian Society for Nature Conservation and Norwegian Peace Corps. Educative trainings for stovemasters with participation of a specialist from Nepal took place in a range of local communities in 2008.
