Om Naturvernforbundet i Rogaland (NiR)

30.januar i 1928 ble Rogaland kredsforening for naturfredning i Norge stiftet i Stavanger. Foreningen var fra starten av tilsluttet Landsforeningen for naturfredning som vi i dag kjenner som Norges Naturvernforbund.

Rogaland Naturfredningsforening jobbet de første 40 årene med fredning av fornminner, naturminner og fuglevern. Fra 1970-tallet ble arbeidsområdet utvidet og modernisert som en følge av økt oppmerksomhet om   forurensing og naturvern. Naturvernforbundet i Rogaland er i dag det fjerde største fylkeslaget i landet med ca 1100 medlemmer. 

English. On the 30th January, 1928, the Rogaland Association for Nature Conservation in Norway was founded in Stavanger. The association was from the start affiliated with the National Association for Nature Conservation, today known as the Norwegian Society for Conservation of Nature*.

In its first 40 years, the association worked with protection of ancient monuments, natural monuments and birdlife protection. From the 1970s the work was expanded and modernised as a result of the increasing public awareness on pollution and nature conservation. The Norwegian Society for the Conservation of Nature in Rogaland* is currently the fourth largest county organisation in Norway and has 1100 members.
