The overall goal for our international work is to strengthen local community based organizations, environmental NGOs and the civil society.

The overall goal for our international work is to strengthen local community based organizations, environmental NGOs and the civil society, so that they can advocate good and acceptable environmental management in their communities and countries.

Many of our partner NGOs are based in countries with weak traditions for an independent civil society, and generally it is not accepted that groups of “non-experts” should have the right to voice their opinion on conflict questions. By strengthening the organizational capacity of the organizations, they are able to become a force of influence in important decisions regarding the environment.

The result is a network of organizations that are very active, have become visible in their arena of work, and have received improved recognition in the society as general.  They feel responsible for contributing to public interest and participation in environmental questions, and development of local democracy.

By supporting these environmental NGOs, we are not only supporting their environmental work as such, but also the development of civil society, working under difficult conditions.
